Arco colony Friday 1st November

Post by Atta solider » Fri Nov 01, 2019 9:10 am

Hello all I've not been able to get on this site for long time its only this week Andrew help me get on.

I have a colony of Arco that fill the size of raj pod on of his small ones, they are growing fast not seen the queen for months, I was feeding them summer leafs but now I have given them rose petals red and bkackberrys leafs they don't like much of the privet I put in as my old atta colony loved them, they love amounds my set up is lot smaller with waste pod and long tubing going up to a large pod where I feed them.

Is this the start of another epic journal post, Rick. Your last one was, I think, the most viewed on this forum!!

Well I need to out find some interesting food for them as arco which I have are hard to find there favourite food, the only food they been taking are Rose's petals. I think they are harder than my old colony atta as they took any leafs I put in.

Acromyrmex are definitely harder. University of Copenhagen have had Acromyrmex colonies going for years. They currently have a few of my Acromyrmex octospinosus colonies. They only feed Bramble and Apple, every second day. Nothing else. They have had some colonies for 12 years! Seems like a possible winter strategy?

Give cornflakes a try. My Acromyrmex Versicolor queens loved cornflakes last year

Okay thanks I'll try them. By the way this is not my first time keeping leaf cutters.
