Another photo to show how things are progressing, looking at the fungus you would never know that only a few weeks ago things were looking very bad for this colony, the fungus has grown so much, that soldier there should give some idea how big the fungus has got now.

That's some amazing growth! I do think growth is strongest in aquarium type set ups. Great pic.

Re: Daubz Atta cephalotes
Soldiers move a lot quicker than i thought they could, all ive seen is her moping round the fungus hardly moving, until tonight, i put some new leaves in and it slightly touched the fungus, she charged, she almost got to my hand before i could let go of the leaf and i will be honest i did almost soil myself, quite intimidating for such a small creature. I am tempted to get bitten just to see how much it really hurts, is this stupid. This is probably why i shouldnt own bullet ants the temptation would be over whelming i think.

You should give in to the temptation. The Atta dance is a wonderful thing when performed for the first time!!

does this fungus look ok, its really black at the top and they dont seem to be adding to the top of the fungus just to the sides.

If you touch the fungus with your finger, is it fluffy like cotton wool or is there any resistance, almost slightly hard, something like tissue paper. If its not really soft then the dark colour is unhealthy, really soft and we are good.

Do the grape v's orange peel test. Offer them both and see which they take. If they take both, your setup is perfect. If they favour the orange peel then you have a very wet setup, if they go for the grape then you probably need to raise humidity.
