Heres a few photos of my new setup im just running it at the moment to make sure conditions are holding correct. There is 3 islands the 2nd island will be a feeding table to start but my 2nd fungus garden will go on the then the 3rd larger island will become the feeding table. The moisture on the inner container isn't condensation, its where i sprayed the soil and clay balls.

Nice. Sometimes I raise the water level till its just below the table. More accurate transfer of temp. Is there any provision for dump or are you resigned to having them drop this in water?

I think im going to try what Richard be has done on his setup by butting a boiling tube from the platform into the water. I will top the water up tomorrow, the wifes just gone to bed she wont be pleased if i start going up and down to the loft with buckets of water.

I decided to do it and guess what, i was right she was not happy, its a good job my son was asleep, we dont want him repeating some of the foul and abusive that came out of her mouth
but on the plus side my water level is correct now.

Firstly, I take no responsibility for the abuse from your wife. Mine was only to do the deed, I think Jamies....Daubz1977 wrote:I decided to do it and guess what, i was right she was not happy, its a good job my son was asleep, we dont want him repeating some of the foul and abusive that came out of her mouthbut on the plus side my water level is correct now.
was more to blame if you want my opinion. I think you should give her the keyboard and Jamies PM page and let her go at him. He's always causing this kind of trouble on here.Deansie26 wrote:I'm sure she would understand lol.

This didn't work for me I should point out.. definitely worth trying as it's a low cost solution. But I can't find a solution to the ants dumping in the water.. I can't stop them.. I tried a floating platform as well but they just climbed down onto the platform and then dumped over the side of that.Daubz1977 wrote:I think im going to try what Richard be has done on his setup by butting a boiling tube from the platform into the water.
The only solution I think is to get an external canister filter.. about £60 and then use a skimmer attachment - about £10.. the filter would only need changing once every 3 months I reckon... and the water would be crystal clear... you could even have plants in the water then if you wanted.. give it a more natural feel. Floating plants also give you the opportunity to create an ant return system whereby a floating ant can be directed using the outflow of the filter through some surface plants and then they can climb back up out of the water.
Trouble is it's another £70
