Re: Daubz Atta cephalotes
The fungus is growing really fast now, i think its almost doubled in size in the last week or so. Ive spent a lot of time watching them recently and ive realised something, i thought they would be elegant and very military like when cutting and carrying leave back to the fungus but really they are a bit like the chuckle brothers dropping bits and falling over everything.
Im quite happy with the condition in the loft, today was quite hot with the sun beating down on the roof all day and the loft temperature didnt get above 23.5°c all day.
Heres a few photos of the fungus now.

Thanks mate, thats good to know. Im thinking because my ants are just dumping there waste in the water that i may get a small pleccy and another bottom feeding species to see if they can keep the water clean between them, if they do it got to be cheaper than buying a filter.Deansie26 wrote:I'd say a year easy Dale, plenty of time to get things done!

Dont know about that buddy, do you have a filter in there at the minute? Fish won't last long in that water without one, even hardy plecs I'd imagine. Ant waste turns the water foul pretty quick.

I have a power head in there but not a filter. I know it gets foul i had a timing issue when siphoning the last setup when the water needed changing

I had a mouth full the other day sucking the pipe to get it going, wasn't tasty lol.Daubz1977 wrote:I have a power head in there but not a filter. I know it gets foul i had a timing issue when siphoning the last setup when the water needed changing
I wouldn't put fish in though without a filter though, think they would be floating before long.

Re: Daubz Atta cephalotes
I really need to thank Sean for pushing me into getting Attas, i really enjoy keeping them there is always something different going on. Theyve now completely blocked one entrance and apart from a hole big enough for them to get through to dump there crap in the water, they have blocked the other entrance, it took them a while, both holes are 30mm. The fungus has grown so much, i can see a new section every day.
