Re: The queen has died
Haha! But can they just add a queen? What species are they? Doesn't that make a difference as to whether she is accepted? I couldn't see that in the piece...Andyj wrote:The queen has died at Londons natural histoy museum

Re: The queen has died
Im afraid that article is 2 years out of date. They did lose their queen and that article appeared at the time. I was invited to go and I went to the museum and quoted them for a new colony. I think it was more than their budget. Still waiting to hear. Ironically live exhibits are a struggle to Museum curators. Always have problems keeping colonies thriving in museums!

Wonder why that is, perhaps no real interest in living things and prefer things to dust rather than care for perhaps.

That's a real shame because a live colony is such a draw for people....as I'm finding out with ours, I spend ages talking to people and explaining about the colony, it's great!

Yes but its a gradual downward spiral. School, University... still full of energy....... on to research or job.... life is becoming tiring and uneventful, everything is starting to feel like too much bother....... then you get a job in a museum and life becomes pretty much as stiff as the exhibits. Hand them a live exciting display and they retch, publicly!

But these exhibits are public displays, they should feel proud and excited to talk to people about their exhibit, to help people learn new things. It's sad if that is the attitude and so maybe good that they no longer keep a colony.
I'll be proud of our colony until I retire!
