That leaf looks like Crateagus Monogyna, it's in leaf a bit early tho! I'll test some out with my lot tomorrow if I can get some!

So I guess it wouldnt take long for the colony to strip a bonsai tree. Need to get some bonsai ants , trim their roots to keep them small and they will take tiny disks from the tree. Would look great in a display.Daubz1977 wrote:A lot of trees are starting early this year, some of my bonsai that didnt start until the beginning of April last year are starting to pop there buds.

Thats just rose leaves they have there mate but they do love the hawthorn and the perrywinkle, I think its because its a small colony with not many really large workers so these softer leaves are easier for them to cut.

Re: Daubz Atta cephalotes
A lot of leaves cut again last night, i noticed though that they were disappearing into the hollows in the fungus with the leaves rather than adding them to the outside of the fungus. They didnt waist any time cutting it in to little pieces at the leaf either, they cut great big chunks off then 4 or 5 workers would drag it back to the fungus and it would get chopped up there.
